Remember our fly (see Shotover' new species to science)? It was just over two years ago that twelve flies were collected from a scarce fungus (Volvariella bombycina) on Horspath Common. Four of these flies, along with a few others from around southern UK, turned out to be a species new to science. That’s how long it takes to do all the checking, describing, drawing and publishing!...and its name...Leiomysa birkheadii (Diptera: Asteiidae).
