Shotover chosen as one of Oxfordshire's Conservation Target Areas

There are 36 Conservation Target Areas (CTAs) in Oxfordshire. The CTAs cover a fifth of the county’s area, and are intended to bring a holistic approach to wildlife conservation over important quasi-homogeneous areas of habitat. This is a project driven by the County Council.

It would have been impossible to consider all 36 CTAs from the start of the project, and a selected 12 have been under active consideration for two years. Some SW members have already been involved in survey and advice on these first 12 CTAs. Now it is the turn of the Shotover CTA and the knowledge of SW members, SW publications and our data holding is going to be a considerable resource in this process. In recognition of this, and our experience with other CTAs, SW’s chairman Ivan Wright has been asked to be the ‘Lead Partner’ (a sort of chairman/coordinator) for the Shotover CTA.
