Every year in November SW run the SW Mosses Course which is held in Oxford. It is a 3-day course of microscope sessions and field visits. Course tutor: Jacqueline Wright, County Recorder of Bryophytes for Oxfordshire & Berkshire. See The Oxford Mossing Group for further details.

Every month on the 2nd Sunday is a Conservation Work Day. These run from 10am to 3pm, but you may join us any time between these hours). We meet at the Shotover Car Park, Headington (unless otherwise specified below). If you want to join us after 10am, see the map on notice board or phone the SW mobile (Conservation Days only) on 07881 977481, to find out where we are. Join us for as long or as short a time as you like and contribute to the important conservation work that SW is carrying out on Shotover. Wear suitable clothing and bring sufficient supplies of food and drink! No dogs please, thank you.

Every year during the summer months, 4-6 Invertebrate Identification Workshops are held at Hill End Field Studies Centre (Farmour, Oxford). The workshops are aimed at enthusiastic, adult beginners and provide a basic introduction to the identification of the different invertebrate groups. Microscopes are used where appropriate, but experience in microscope use is NOT ESSENTIAL. Equipment is supplied but, if possible, you should bring a hand lens. Workshops normally run from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Adopt-a-Sector Launch Day

The launch of this year's Adaopt-A-Sector: a scheme run by Shotover Wildlife for those who would like to learn skills in botanical surveying, or improve on their existing skills. University of Oxford Natural History Museum. Come and enjoy one of the busiest wildlife events around and see the SW stand which will be featuring a range of insect sampling methodologies, and of course the Big Blue Tree.
